Free Advanced ASP.NET Core 1.0 Cross-Platform Training on Microsoft Virtual Academy

Yesterday, I discovered a new advanced core course on Microsoft Virtual Academy. At this moment of writing, there wasn't any announcement for it that's why I wrote this blog post.

Again, start with Introduction to ASP.NET Core 1.0, explore this new technology even further in Intermediate ASP.NET Core 1.0 and dig dive deeper into Cross-Platform concerns and Containers through the ASP.NET Core 1.0 Cross-Platform.

ASP.NET Core 1.0 Cross-Platform

Scott Hanselman, Maria Naggaga and Glenn Condron launched Day 3, the advanced day. If the first is 100 level and the second is 200 level, this is 300 level. The topics to be explored are :

  • Getting Started with ASP.NET Core on Linux and Mac : See how to use a Mac to move a console application to the web.

  • Introduction to ASP.NET Core and Tools : Learn the basics of ASP.NET Core and the tools available on Mac and Linux.

  • Deploying to a Linux Server : Find out how to deploy an ASP.NET Core app to a Linux server.

  • Getting Started with Containers and Docker : Take a look at Docker and the containers it is built to manage. Explore the .NET Core Docker base images, along with tooling available for Docker.

Scott Hunter suggested to the authors of this course to make a Day 4 dedicated to Containers because some concepts like docker-swarm for instance need more time to explain.

Personally, I thank the authors for this great content which I highly recommend to better understand this awesome technology. Do not forget also to rate this course by giving 5 stars like I did :)!
